I went 1-0 last Saturday. My
predictions and pre-game comments can be found on my previous post, dated 11-17
(ATS Predictions - Week 12).
My Current Overall Record: 6-10
THE PLAYS
Northwestern 39
Minnesota 0
Closing Line: Northwestern -7
FTC Prediction: Northwestern 28 Minnesota 14
My ATS Pick: Northwestern -7
Result: Win
I got a much needed win here.
Wasn’t even close.
THE NON-PLAYS
Penn St. 56
Nebraska 44
Closing Line: Penn St. -25.5
FTC Prediction: Penn St. 45 Nebraska 14
My ATS Pick: Pass
Make no mistake about it,
this was a blowout. Penn St. had their backup players in on defense for most of
the second half, and gradually inserted backups on offense. I figured that
might happen, but didn’t figure Nebraska to leave its starters in for the whole
game and squeeze out every possible point.
Purdue 24 Iowa
15
Closing Line: Iowa -7
FTC Prediction: Iowa 24 Purdue 15
My ATS Pick: Pass
Nice win for the Boilermakers
here. QB Elijah Sindelar played better than I expected, his best game of the
year, I think. This loss is kind of typical of the Iowa program. Stark peaks
and valleys.
Indiana 41
Rutgers 0
Closing Line: Indiana -10.5
FTC Prediction: Indiana 24 Rutgers 20
My ATS Pick: Pass
I thought Rutgers had a
chance going into this game but they didn’t play well at all. Apparently the
Scarlet Knights feel good enough about what they’ve already accomplished this
season, which I’ll agree is more than most expected.
Michigan St. 17
Maryland 7
Closing Line: Michigan St. -15.5
FTC Prediction: Michigan St. 34 Maryland 24
My ATS Pick: Pass
I hit the point spread
exactly, but the scoring came in much lower than I figured. The weather might
have had something to do with that.
Ohio St. 52
Illinois 14
Closing Line: Ohio St. -41
FTC Prediction: Ohio St. 52 Illinois 14
My ATS Pick: Pass
Me and the oddsmakers had
this one figured out long before they kicked it off.
Wisconsin 24
Michigan 10
Closing Line: Wisconsin -7
FTC Prediction: Wisconsin 17 Michigan 9
My ATS Pick: Pass
Good game between two good
teams. Wisconsin QB Alex Hornibrook’s numbers weren’t great, but his play was.
Hornibrook threw some nice, clutch passes when he needed to. It may not be too
often that he’ll need to. Michigan lived up to its top ranked defensive status
for most of the game, but the Badgers running game wore down even this great
defense in the fourth quarter.
